The Power Of Focus

We tend to bring into our lives what we consistently focus on and what we focus on expands. Wouldn’t it make sense then, to become aware of where our focus goes most of the day so that we can be more proactive and conscious about what we are creating in our lives?

Understanding and mastering focus in our lives can make a huge positive impact in our careers, business, health, family and in our overall level of fulfillment and happiness.

There has been an ever-growing accessibility to information and advances in technology have made it easier for the world to connect but it has also brought us a tremendous amount of noise.  Noise is the form of news feeds, social media posts, news, advertisings and a ton of other distractions. But by utilizing the power of focus we can take back control of our lives.

Just as the sun’s rays when focused through a magnifying glass can create a fire – when you focus your knowledge, skills, time and energy on a few key activities you are able to accomplish much more than the average person can in far less time.

To utilize the power of focus we first have to be crystal clear on what is the MOST important thing we want to create. We then have put our focus on accomplishing just that. Find the few activities that if you do consistently will generate you the biggest results in the areas of your life that matter most. It is far too common now for people to be super busy all of the time but weeks and months go by and they have little to show for it.

One thing we can be sure of, there are never enough hours in the day to do everything but there will always be enough time in the day to accomplish the most important tasks. Here are 3 things you can do to utilize the power of focus:

#1, Spend a few minutes every day to clarify exactly what is the most important things you want to accomplish for the day, that will move you closer to your meaningful goals.

#2 Utilize a system to keep track of your day so you can block out the time to do what is most important. I like to use my Google and iPhone calendars to block time to work on what is most important every day.

#3 Finally, hold yourself accountable to only work on what is most important first and everything else second.

By doing so, you will begin to accomplish more and more in less time. You will be producing higher value results and ultimately will reach your goals faster.
