I am sure you have heard about the Law of Attraction.  I have been re-studying the concepts recently and I came across some misunderstandings so here is what I’ve learned so far.  As a matter of fact, I created the Law of Creation that encompasses the concepts of the Law of Attraction and I think it will help you understand this universal law. When I say creation, I am referring to the amazing ability we have as human beings to create works of art, to create literature, to create content, to create businesses, to create change, to create results.

Here is the Law of Creation, the secret to the Law of Attraction:

Focus + Attention + ∆Energy + Enthusiasm = Creation

Let me explain…

The Secret breaks it down in three steps: ask, believe, and receive. Here is the problem; many people do not understand the extent of these words.  It gives off the impression that you are to just ask for what you want, believe it and somehow through magic, it will appear in your life but it’s much more complex and logical than that. Let’s break down the formula:

In the formula for creation, FOCUS requires us to have clarity of what we want. In order to focus on something, you need to know what you are focusing on. It’s like target practice, you want to know where the bullseye is, right? The key is aligning our thoughts with what we want consistently; not letting failures or pains take our focus away from what we want.

Just in the same manner in the Law of Attraction, when you “ask” for what you want, you need to be specific; you want to be able to vividly imagine what you are asking for with as many details as possible.  On a side note, be aware of your thoughts; are they focused on the positive or in the negative?  On what you want or what you don’t want? When you know and focus on what you want there is a part of your brain that will become aware of situations, circumstances and people that will help you attain your goal. The key at that point is to not let any internal block stop you from utilizing those opportunities.

The second variable is ATTENTION.  Attention requires us to dedicate our time to create what we want.  Anything we want in our lives is going to require us to invest some time to make it happen. That might be in the form of learning a new skill, applying for something, making a phone call, taking action of some sort but time will always be a factor. So prioritize the activities that will move your goals forward and do them first!

Then is ∆ENERGY, our energy transfer in the form of work. This is the key! This is where the rubber meets the road. We need to take focused action to create what we want. Mathematically, energy is a function of work and time. See the picture? Yes, work is not as easy as just accepting the status quo, being okay with mediocrity or doing nothing but if you want to create extraordinary results it will require extraordinary effort.

The second part of the Secret talks about “believe” and here is the assumption mainstream videos and books leave out: if you truly believe then your words, thoughts and actions will reflect what you believe. Meaning, if you believe it means that you will invest the time and energy in a focused manner to make your dreams a reality.

The last variable in our Law of Creation is missed by many but it is fundamental to make the law work and that is ENTHUSIASM. Zeal, passion, ardor, and eagerness are all synonyms of enthusiasm. The word enthusiasm stems from the Greek word enthousiasmos which ultimately means “inspiration like that caused by God.”  Following your enthusiasm means that you’re following that higher calling or purpose that will always bring you joy and fulfillment in the long run.

It is so important to have enthusiasm because that is one of the strongest emotions we can have other than love. Strong positive emotions are essential to consistently maintaining focus, attention, and energy. Imagine a feelings compass; if you feel the enthusiasm and follow it, it would mean that you are going the right way; it would mean you are following your bliss, your calling, your joy, your happiness and that is when you know you are in the right track. If you felt a void, lack of fulfillment, unhappiness doing your work… maybe is time to change course, dare I say change careers.

Ralph Waldo Emerson understood the Law of Creation when he said:  “Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.”

So remember, the Law of Attraction is always in effect. Your current life is but a reflection of what you have created. If you want to start creating something different in the future ask yourself: What am I focusing on? What am I giving my time to? What am I working towards? Am I following my passion? If your answers align with what you want, you must be going the right way.
