A high-performer is someone that operates in the realm of higher possibilities. They defy the odds to produce amazing results in an area of their lives. Many times in several areas. Striving to be a High performer can be nerve-racking, but most of the time it is electrifying and insatiably fulfilling.
The great news is, high performance, much like anything else, is attained by the constant application of certain habits. Habits are patterns and tendencies we carry out mostly unconsciously but to develop new habits, habits that will create high performance we must put in a significant amount of energy to replace the habits that are holding us back.
Psychologists, business experts, and scientists have studied high performers extensively and here are 12 things they found that you can start doing today to operate at a higher level.
- They constantly look for opportunities to learn and grow
- They do everything to the best of their abilities
- They are results-driven and they put in the work, day after day to achieve the results they are after.
- They know what they want; they know they cannot hit a target they can’t see and that applies to all areas of life.
- They ask themselves, is what they are doing right now is the best use of their time.
This week, focus on the one area that you think will make the biggest impact for you and make it happen.
Until next time, keep living your BEST life. - Decide in advance what you have to get done and then commit to doing it. Without a clear focus, it’s too easy to get distracted.
- Identify your peak cycles of productivity and schedule your most important tasks then. I know mine is in the early morning and a few hours before bedtime. When are yours?
- Identify your highest value activities and do those first. Tackle your most important tasks you will be far more effective the rest of your day.
- Block out time for the most important activities. Chunk the big tasks into smaller, group similar tasks together to save time.
- Pick up the tempo. (Speaking, walking, typing, reading, doing…)
- Take action immediately after setting a goal, even if the action is not perfectly planned. You can always adjust course along the way. This is a good way of overcoming procrastination.
- Visualize your goal as already accomplished. Put yourself into a state of actually being there. Make it real in your mind, and you’ll soon see it in your reality.
“There is always enough time to do what is MOST important.”
